Project Angel Food
Our Discovery
For more than 30 years, Project Angel Food has prepared and delivered medically tailored meals, free of charge, to critically ill people across Los Angeles County. As demand for its services grew, Project Angel Food engaged CFA to conduct a Campaign Feasibility Study, testing support for a major expansion of its Hollywood kitchen and campus.
Our Approach
CFA provided ongoing Campaign Counsel throughout Project Angel Food’s campaign, building the prospect pipeline and developing solicitation strategy. This built on CFA’s foundational work with the organization: assessing its internal fundraising capacity, conducting dozens of one-on-one interviews with prospective campaign donors, developing a case for support with a recommended campaign goal and gift pyramid, and guiding Project Angel Food through Campaign Planning.
The Results
Project Angel Food publicly launched its “Rise to the Challenge” campaign in February 2023 to expand and renovate its Hollywood campus, with a goal that grew over the course of the campaign to $55.5 million — of which $53.1M has been raised to date. The campaign is funding a new two-building campus at 922 and 960 Vine Street: the Chuck Lorre Family Foundation Kitchen & Campus. Project Angel Food celebrated the grand opening of its new Kitchen and Operations Center in February 2026 and is on track to more than triple its annual meal production capacity, from 1.5 million to over 4.5 million medically tailored meals.
