AltaSea

Our Discovery

AltaSea is dedicated to accelerating scientific collaboration and advancing an emerging blue economy in pursuit of a more sustainable and equitable world. Initially hired to collaborate with the data analytics team for an in-depth analysis of philanthropic capacity within AltaSea’s donor database, CFA recognized a broader opportunity to develop the organization’s donor data management approach. It was determined that building this capacity would be essential to the success of their $200 million campaign as well as sustaining growth into the future.

Our Approach

CFA partnered with AltaSea’s fundraising team to clarify roles and responsibilities regarding donor data, providing training and systems support along with data entry protocols. The CFA team conducted a comprehensive analysis, categorizing prospects by giving level and creating fundraising portfolios. Additionally, they provided the AltaSea fundraising team with customized reporting dashboards to monitor and track their progress toward campaign goals.

The Results

With CFA’s support, AltaSea transitioned from multiple systems of donor data into one centralized and streamlined donor database. By providing strategic support at a systems level, CFA increased the capacity of AltaSea’s fundraising team to consistently capture and maintain donor data while equipping them with reports to translate data into actionable donor insights. By taking a holistic approach, CFA strengthened core elements of AltaSea’s fundraising program, positioning AltaSea for a successful campaign and sustainable, long-term success.

“With CFA’s guidance, we have been able to transform our database and prospect management systems. CFA took the time to understand the nuances of our organization and helped us develop effective and efficient strategies that really fit our needs. We now have the right tools to support a growing advancement team and to manage our $200 million capital campaign.”
