Jensen is an artist, writer, and designer originally from Winona, Minnesota. Since graduating, he’s worked all over the country as a copywriter, graphic and web designer, writing coach, and editor.
Some of his past writing projects include blog content, B2B messaging for the web, PR, SEO, and social media development. He’s also worked with rising seniors navigating the college application process as an editor and private writing tutor, helping some students who went on to submit successful applications to institutions such as Harvard, Williams, and Cornell.
Much of his work for the web has been coupled with digital design, and he’s worked on a variety of corporate logos and branding strategy projects.
He received his first arts grant, the McKnight Emerging Artist Grant, through the Southeast Minnesota Arts Council while an art student at Grinnell College.
The funds sponsored him to compose, organize, and perform a classical guitar recital at the Winona Arts Center, and he’s been excited about local creative communities and the potential of grantmaking to affect people and places ever since. He went on to study grant writing, prospect research, and foundation relations at the University of Massachusetts, Boston.
At CFA, Jensen conducts our prospect research for both individuals and foundations. He helps our clients with philanthropic casemaking, writing, and documentation for foundation grants. He believes good grantwriting is a byproduct of both embracing pragmatism and illustrating mission-driven values through good storytelling.
